Loctite 262 Threadlocking Methacrylate Adhesive is designed for the permanent locking and sealing of threaded fasteners. The product cures when confined in the absence of air between close fitting metal surfaces and prevents loosening and leakage from shock and vibration. Typical applications include the locking and sealing of large bolts and studs (up to M25 ). The thixotropic nature of LOCTITE® 262™ reduces the migration of liquid product after application to the substrate.

Directions for use:
For Assembly:
  • For best results, clean all surfaces (external and internal) with a LOCTITE® cleaning solvent and allow to dry.
  • If the material is an inactive metal or the cure speed is tooM slow, spray all threads with and allow to dry.
  • Shake the product thoroughly before use.
  • To prevent the product from clogging in the nozzle, do not allow the tip to touch metal surfaces during application.
  • For Thru Holes, apply several drops of the product onto the bolt at the nut engagement area.
  • For Blind Holes, apply several drops of the product down the internal threads to the bottom of the hole.
  • For Sealing Applications, apply a 360° bead of product to the leading threads of the male fitting, leaving the first thread free. Force the material into the threads to thouroughly fill the voids. For bigger threads and voids, adjust product amount accordingly and apply a 360° bead of product on the female threads also.
  • Assemble and tighten as required.

For Disassembly:
  • Apply localized heat to nut or bolt to approximately 250 °C. Disassemble while hot.

For Cleanup:
  • Cured product can be removed with a combination of soaking in a Loctite solvent and mechanical abrasion such as a wire brush.

Loctite 577 Thread Sealant is designed for the locking and sealing of metal threaded pipes and fittings. Particularly suitable for use on stainless steel without the need for surface activation. The product cures when confined in the absence of air between close fitting metal surfaces and prevents loosening and leakage from shock and vibration. The thixotropic nature of Loctite 577 Thread Sealant reduces the migration of liquid product after application to the substrate.

Directions for use:For Assembly:
  • For best results, clean all surfaces (external and internal) with a Loctite cleaning solvent and allow to dry.
  • If the material is an inactive metal or the cure speed is to slow, spray with Activator 7471 or 7649 and allow to dry.
  • Apply a 360° bead of product to the leading threads of the male fitting, leaving the first thread free. Force the material into the threads to thouroughly fill the voids. For bigger threads and voids, adjust product amount accordingly and apply a 360° bead of product on the female threads also.
  • Using accepted trade practices, assemble and wrench tighten fittings until proper alignment is obtained.
  • Properly tightened fittings will seal instantly to moderate pressures. For maximum pressure resistance and solvent

For Disassembly:
  • Remove with standard hand tools.
  • Where hand tools do not work because of excessive engagement length or large diameters (over 1"), apply localized heat to approximately 250°C. Disassemble while hot.

For Cleanup:
  • Cured product can be removed with a combination of soaking in a Loctite solvent and mechanical abrasion such as a wire brush.

Loctite 567 Thread Sealant is designed for the locking and sealing of metal tapered threads and fittings. Loctite 567 Thread Sealant provides robust curing performance. It not only works on active metals (e.g. brass, copper) but also on passive substrates such as stainless steel and plated surfaces. The high lubricating properties of this compound prevent galling on stainless steel, aluminum and all other metal pipe threads and fittings. The product offers high temperature performance and oil tolerance. It tolerates minor surface contaminations from various oils, such as cutting, lubrication, anti-corrosion and protection fluids. Loctite 401 Instant Adhesive is designed for the assembly of difficultto-bond materials which require uniform stress distribution and strong tension and/or shear strength. The product provides rapid bonding of a wide range of materials, including metals, plastics and elastomers. LOCTITE® 401™ is particularly suited for bonding porous or absorbent materials such as wood, paper, leather and fabric.
Directions for use:
  • Bond areas should be clean and free from grease. Clean all surfaces with a Loctite® cleaning solvent and allow to dry.
  • Loctite® Primer may be applied to the bond area. Avoid applying excess Primer. Allow the Primer to dry.
  • LOCTITE® Activator may be used if necessary. Apply the LOCTITE® Activator to one bond surface (do not apply activator to the primed surface where Primer is also used). Allow the Activator to dry.
  • Apply adhesive to one of the bond surfaces (do not apply the adhesive to the activated surface). Do not use items like tissue or a brush to spread the adhesive. Assemble the parts within a few seconds. The parts should be accurately located, as the short fixture time leaves little opportunity for adjustment.
  • LOCTITE® Activator can be used to cure fillets of product outside the bond area. Spray or drop the activator on the excess product.
  • Product should be allowed to develop full strength before subjecting to any service loads (typically 24 to 72 hours after assembly, depending on bond gap, materials and ambient conditions).

Loctite 290 Threadlocker is designed for the locking and sealing of threaded fasteners. Because of its low viscosity and capillary action, the product wicks between engaged threads and eliminates the need to disassemble prior to application. The product cures when confined in the absence of air between close fitting metal surfaces and prevents loosening and leakage from shock and vibration. The product can also fill porosity in welds, castings and powdered metal parts.

Directions for use:
  • For Pre-assembled Threaded Parts with Thru Holes
  • Prior to assembly, clean all threads (bolt and hole) with a LOCTITE® cleaning solvent and allow to dry.
  • For Thru Holes, apply several drops of product at screw and body juncture.
  • Avoid touching the bottle tip to the metal surface.

For Assembly:
  • For Blind Holes, apply several drops of the product down the internal threads to the bottom of the hole

For Porosity Sealing:
  • Clean area and apply localized heat to the area to approximately 121°C.
  • Allow to cool to approximately 85°C and apply the product.

For Disassembly:

  • In rare instances where hand tools do not work because of excessive engagement length, apply localized heat to nut or bolt to approximately 250 °C. Disassemble while hot.

Loctite 242 Threadlocking is designed for the locking and sealing of threaded fasteners which require normal disassembly with standard hand tools. The product cures when confined in the absence of air between close fitting metal surfaces and prevents loosening and leakage from shock and vibration. Particularly suitable for applications on less active substrates such as stainless steel and plated surfaces, where disassembly with hand tools is required for servicing. The thixotropic nature of LOCTITE® 242® reduces the migration of liquid product after application to the substrate.

LMS test reports include selected QC test parameters considered appropriate to specifications for customer use. Storage:
  • Store product in the unopened container in a dry location. Storage information may be indicated on the product container labeling.

Optimal Storage:

Loctite 55 Pipe Sealing Cord is a general purpose, threaded pipe and fitting sealant which is wound from the dispensing package onto the threads of the pipe. It is supplied in containers, which serve for both storage and dispensing purposes. Recommended for sealing metal and plastic tapered pipe threads and fittings up to 4" NPT (National Pipe Thread) for use in industrial applications in aqueous and non-aqueous fluids. Particularly suitable in threaded assembly applications that require immediate use and may undergo small readjustments before use. This product is typically used in applications up to 149 °C.

Directions for use:
  • Clean parts with a wire brush prior to application of product.
  • Hold the end of the Pipe Sealing Cord against the male nipple with one finger approximately two threads away from the end.
  • Wind the fiber onto the pipe threads in the same direction of the thread helix starting from the end of the pipe. For optimum performance, the grooves of the threads should be filled without completely masking the pitches of the thread.

Note:
  • It is not necessary to follow the valley of the thread.

Caution:
  • Do not over-apply the Pipe Sealing Cord. Excessive material tends to be pushed off as fittings are assembled, and it also becomes mechanically more difficult to complete the engagement.
  • Cut the required length off with the integrated cutting tool and smooth the loose end onto the pitches of the pipe thread.
  • Loctite 55 Pipe Sealing Cord can be adjusted up to 90° after tightening.

Pressure Resistance:
  • Loctite 55 Pipe Sealing Cord was successfully tested for pressure resistance and sealability to 69 MPa. 3/8 NPT steel pipe tees and plugs were assembled and pre-torqued to 27 N·m prior to testing at 69 MPa hydraulic pressure @ 23 °C according to ASTM D 1599.

Typical applications include retention of bearings onto shafts and into housings.

Directions for use:For Assembly:
  • For best results, clean all surfaces (external and internal) with a Loctite cleaning solvent and allow to dry.
  • If the material is an inactive metal or the cure speed is to slow, spray with Activator 7471 or 7649 and allow to dry.
  • For Slip Fitted Assemblies, apply adhesive around the leading edge of the pin and the inside of the collar and use a rotating motion during assembly to ensure good coverage.
  • For Press Fitted Assemblies, apply adhesive thoroughly to both bond surfaces and assemble at high press on rates.
  • For Shrink Fitted Assemblies the adhesive should be coated onto the pin, the collar should then be heated to create sufficient clearance for free assembly.
  • Parts should not be disturbed until sufficient handling strength is achieved.

For Disassembly:
  • Apply localized heat to the assembly to approximately 250 °C. Disassemble while hot.

For Cleanup:
  • Cured product can be removed with a combination of soaking in a Loctite solvent and mechanical abrasion such as a wire brush.
